Session 3: Decade of Decision: Confronting the Global Climate and Corona Crises with Systemic Alternatives

The interlocking planetary crises of coronavirus, climate emergency, and capitalist globalization have served as a deadly wake-up call to the fragility of present ways of life.  In other words, we have moved from “social problems” to “global crisis” and from “piecemeal solutions and reforms” to a growing recognition by scholars and activists of the need for new kinds of “systemic alternatives.”

The organizers invite contributions that can connect the dots of humanity’s multifold emergent existential dilemma and offer pathways to the bold alternatives we need, and/or cases of communities, social movements, or other on-the-ground initiatives that deserve recognition and discussion.In this way, the transnational nature of our many-crises-at-one-time can spur reflection and action adequate to the unprecedented nature of our moment, in this, probably the most crucial “decade of decision” for us all.
