Noa Cykman is a PhD student in Sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  She has a Masters in Political Sociology from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and a degree in Social Sciences from the same university, with an academic exchange Be Mundus (Erasmus Mundus) held at Vrije Universiteit, Belgium, in the area of Educational Sciences.  She graduated with student merit. She founded and coordinates the Utopia Laboratory (UFSC) since 2016, and participates in the EcoVista project (UCSB).  Her research interests revolve around utopia and contemporary social and epistemological transformations, oriented to the proposal and experimentation of new practices.  Utopian experiences enter into dialogue with a theoretical framework that includes utopian studies, community sociology, society-nature relations, and decolonial, post-colonial and post-structuralist epistemologies.
